Holy Moly!

Desaparecida, e muito eu sei!
A vida deu umas reviravoltas e o facto de ter comecado um novo trabalho como fotografa a tempo inteiro ha ja uns meses, contribuiu tambem para a falta de tempo. Literalmente. Juntando-se a um cansaco tremendo, novos ajustes, novas realidades, e pegar na camara para intuito de brincadeira e lazer torna-se mais complicado, quando passamos o dia a "clicar" profissionalmente. 

Achei que vos devia uma explicacao. Espero retomar estas lides blogueiras o mais rapido possivel. Visitar-vos, dar um "oi" e entrar novamente neste lindo mundo inspirador.   

Ah sim, a Florida ca anda quente e agradavel. Nevoeiros matinais, tarde quentes e detalhes pequenos de primavera a brotar - diga-se florzinhas, para alem das habituais palmeiras.

I've been very MIA I know.
Life suffered some twists and turns and having started a new full-time job as a photographer for a few months now, has contributed greatly to my lack of time. Literally. Adding to that, being extremely tired, new adjustments, new realities, and picking up the camera for fun and leisure becomes more complicated when you spend your whole day clicking professionally.

Thought I owed you an explanation. I hope to return very soon to these blogging days. To drop by and say "hi" and obviously being inspired.

Oh yes, Florida is fine with pleasant weather. Some foggy mornings, warm afternoons and little spring details sprouting - by that I mean little random flowers, besides the usual palm trees.

Um mes em telefone // A month in mobile

Ola' Fevereiro. Ja ca estas e nem dei por tu chegares.

O ano começou com muitas atividades crafty, coisinhas giras e vintage que entraram nesta casa, recebi o livro em que o meu irmão aparece  (esta e' a empresa dele) e houve dias mornos e bons. A grande vantagem de viver ca no sul, 'e evitar o inverno caótico de tempestades de neve, apesar de ter um pouquinho de saudades da branquitude.
FINALMENTE comecei a experimentar o macrame que ja tinha tanta vontade de o fazer desde o ano passado, quando lentamente o "boom" do regresso desta arte começou. Para alguém que tem um amor 'a arte manual, para ja tem sido um divertimento fantástico e ocupa-me com bastante alegria os tempos livres. Acho que por isso a fotografia esta posta um pouco de parte, porque os dedos e olhos estão ocupados com os nós. Alguem por ai' que esteja a fazer o mesmo? Adoraria ver o que andam a fazer.

Hi February. You're already here without giving any notice.

The year started off with lots of crafty activities, cute and vintage things entered this house, received a book where my brother is featured (this is his company) and we had nice and warm days. The great thing about living down south is avoiding the chaotic winter snowstroms, although I miss terribly all that whiteout.
FINALLY I started to experiment and learn macrame, that I've been wanting so bad to get started with since last year, when it hit that comeback "boom". For someone that has a love for handmade art, this has been so exciting and fun. I think that's why I've been slacking a bit on the photography side because my eyes and fingers are busy with knotting. Anyone out there on the same boat? Would love to see what you're making.

2014

Foi um ano com altos e baixos, de mudanças, ajustes e testes de resistência mas também foi preenchido com coisas boas e aventuras e não podia ficar mais que satisfeita com a família e a filha linda, saudável, amorosa e traquina que tenho.
Que venham mais aventuras e testes, caso contrario, que sabor teria a vida?
Não tenho lista de resoluções, nem o pretendo fazer. Fiquei adepta do "viver o momento e o dia-a-dia".
Quero só mesmo coisas simples, autenticas e saborosas para o ano!
Adeus 2014, e ate ja' 2015!

It was a year of ups and down's, changes, adjustments and resistance challenges, but it was also filled with good things and adventures and I couldn't be happier with the family and beautiful, healthy, sweet, naughty daughter, I have.
Let there be more adventures and challenges otherwise what fun would life be?   
I don't have a new years' resolution, nor do I plan on making one. I became fan of the "live the moment and take it day-by-day".
All I ask for is simplicity, authenticity and sweetness for the new year.

Como foi? // How was it?

- O vosso natal?

O nosso foi calmo e descontraído e passamos o dia de pijama, a ver filmes de natal e a filha passou literalmente o dia to-do a brincar com a casinha de bonecas que lhe oferecemos.
Foi uma verdadeira aventura a' procura de uma pois queríamos lhe oferecer uma casa vintage, a' antiga. Finalmente encontramos esta e foi com alegria que a fomos buscar. A grande tarefa foi esconder at'e ao dia de natal. Esta casa e' da altura dela e tivemos que tirar muita coisa de um armario, para escondermos la dentro.
Dia 25 chegou, e a's 4:30 da manha (!!) filha acorda para ir descobrir se o pai natal tinha vindo.
Acho que foi tudo um sucesso e agora... bom, o fim de ano est'a a' porta.

- Your Christmas?

Ours was calm and relaxing and we spent the day in pajamas, watching Christmas movies and daughter literally spent the whole day playing with the doll house that she received.
It was a true hunt trying to find a doll house that we had in mind. We wanted a vintage one. Finally we found the one and we were thrilled when we picked it up. The biggest challenge was trying to hide it before Christmas because that house is just as tall as her and we had to stash it in a closet.
The 25th arrived and at 4:30 am (!!) she woke up excited to find out if Santa had come to our home.
I think everything was a hit and now...well, the new year is just around the corner.

bolhinhas de luz e tal // bubbles of light & stuff

Época de natal para alguns esta carregada de tradições, de decorações, de convívio, de amor, amizade e família.
Sera' o quarto ano que passamos o natal sem a família, apenas os três. Ah, agora com uma gata e a Tinsel; o duende que veio do polo norte para habitar a nossa casa durante esta época. Para quem quiser saber mais sobre esta tradição, vejam a historia do Elf on The Shelf. Ainda não percebi muito bem se sou a favor ou contra esta tradição.

Para continuar a tradição das bolhinas de luz na caneca, eis que 2014 se junta ao painel:

Christmas season for most are filled with traditions, decorations, gatherings, love, friendship and family.
This will be our forth year again without our family and spending it just the three of us. Oh, now we have a cat and Tinsel the elf from the north pole, that's tight.

To continue the tradition of bubbles of light in my mug, 2014 had joined the panel:

Quanto 'a restante lista, falta-nos a família, mas o resto temos bastante. Principalmente decorações - bolas disco, crochets, franjas, pompons e agora o meu novo vicio: Himmeli! Esta tendência escandinava tem vindo a proliferar cada vez mais nas casas e um dia vou fazer o meu próprio com tubinhos de cobre. Para já', tenho um feito de palhinhas de papel (ainda por terminar). Adoro esta estética prismática! (Tantos DIY no google).

Outra tradição que reina aqui nesta casa na altura do natal, são a decoração das meias. São básicas e simples mas o intuito 'e cada ano escolher um botão e cose-lo na meia. Cada um escolhe aquele que quer e o meu obviamente e' o mais espalhafatoso, porque ora, 'e suposto :)

As far as the rest of the list, we have plenty of it, especially decorations - disco balls, crochets, tassels, pompoms, and now my new addiction: Himmeli! This Scandinavian tradition has been sprouting in homes and one day I'll make a proper one made out of brass. For now I have a paper straw mobile (yet to finish). I love this prismatic aesthetic! (So many DIY's on google).

Another tradition that reigns this house around christmas time, is decorating our stockings. They're plain and simple but the purpose is to pick a button of each one's choice every year, and sew it to the stocking. Mine of course is the most gaudy one, because that's how I roll :)

Falta uma semana para o natal, e espero que todos estejam a fazer e a ter aquilo que vos da' alegria, conforto, magia e amor!

Tis the season...

- para dar alegria, amor e meter mãos a' obra!

Sinceramente nem acredito que o natal já esta' a bater a' porta! Como 'e que este ano passou a correr? Ainda no outro dia estava no frio de Vermont a montar a árvore ao ver a neve a cair l'a fora, sem saber que no ano seguinte estaria noutro local completamente diferente, com palmeiras na vista da janela.

A vida da muitas cambalhotas, ou se d'a. O que 'e certo, 'e que tudo 'e uma incerteza.

Gosto desta época e da alegria das crianças e da beleza visual. Altura em que nos permite ser criança outra vez, retirar as estrelinhas e guizos para espalhar a magia.

Contagem decrescente dos 12 dias ate ao natal e envio-vos imagens deste meu mundo crafty que tanto adoro. A fazer miminhos para as professoras da minha familia, a escrever cartões 'as pessoas chegadas para relembrar-lhes o quanto são importante para nos, a fazer uma escolha com a filha dos brinquedos que ela quer dar a crianças que tambem merecem receber... Quer mostrar-lhe o valor de dar e não só de receber.

Desejo-vos uma época muito feliz e cheia de magia!

- to give joy, love and get crafty!

Seriously, I can't believe that Christmas is just around the corner! How did this year go by so fast? Just the other day, I was in Vermont decorating the tree while looking at the snow falling outside, without knowing that the next year I would be somewhere else completely different, with palm trees outside our windows.

Life has just so many unexpected twists and turns. What's certain is that everything is uncertain.

I love this season and the joy of children and all it's visual beauty. It's the time that allows us to be kids again and pull out the little stars and jingle bells to spread the magic.

Countdown of the 12 days till Christmas and I present you a gathering of images from this crafty world of mine that I absolutely love. Making little gifts for my daughter's teachers, writing cards for those that are special, reminding them how much they mean to us, and making a selection of toys that daughter would like to give away to those that also deserve to receive. I want to show her the importance of giving as well.

I wish you all a happy season filled with magic!

Isto nao podia faltar // This could not be missed

- Palmeiras, areia, finais de dia junto a' agua, aquando da visita da mae e T.

Finalmente tive um tempo para andar de volta das fotografias que tiramos quando cá estiveram. Este mês tem sido uma loucura de trabalho e um bom dia de folga para mim, e' parar, não fazer nada e estar de volta de fotografias.

Voltando a' mãe, foi bom voltar a reviver estes momentos. Foi uma delicia para a filha ter a avo' por perto e foi quase um mês de muitos mimos.
Uma pena ela já ter voltado e termos um oceano pelo meio.

Ainda e' muito estranho estar em Dezembro num clima assim sem neve. Vai me fazer muita falta um natal branco, mas sem duvida que estou adorar andar de mangas curtas nesta altura.

Seguem umas imagens tropicais nesta altura tao natalicia. Nao vos posso facultar as árvores lindas do norte carregadas com neve, mas umas palmeiras podem ser que vos alegre o dia!

- Palm trees, sand, and end of days spent by the water, during mom's and T.'s visit.

Finally I had a break and went through the pictures I took when they were here. This month has been crazy busy and the best day off is obviously spent doing nothing, besides being around photos.

Going back to mom's visit, it was great reminiscing these moments. Daughter enjoyed it to the fullest and we were all spoiled rotten for about a month. 
It's a shame she's back and having an ocean between us.

It's still very odd not having any snow in December. I will surely miss a white Christmas but I have to admit that I am loving wearing short sleeves around this time.

Sending you some tropical pics during this holiday season. I can't provide you with the beautiful trees of the north packed with snow, but I hope some palm trees will lighten up your day!

Tendência nesta casa // Trending in this house

Para quem me segue no instagram, já deu conta desta minha maluqueira com franjas e paus. Não tenho muitos tempos livres mas quando os tenho, estou sempre a fazer algo. A fotografar, a desenhar ou nos trabalhos manuais é como me irão encontrar. 

Como estou completmanete rendida por este retorno dos adornos artesanais nas paredes, quis eu experimetar e criar os meus próprios. Cortar franjas e aplicá-las em qualquer coisa, fica o máximo. Pendurá-las em paus, dá ainda mais aquele ar rústico! Tão simples e tão mimoso. 

Alguém por aí com esta maluqueira também??

Com a visita da mãe, adicionamos uns com crochet. Acho que vou ter que arranjar maneira de encaixar nesta falta de tempo, umas aulinhas de crochet também!

For those of you that follow me on instagram, you might have noticed this obsession of mine with tassels and sticks. I don´t have that much free time for hobbies, but when I do, I have to find a way to keep myself occupied with something. Either photographing, drawing or crafting, that´s how you will find me. 

Since I´m absolutely drawn by this comeback of handmade wall art, I´ve decided to create my own. Making tassels and applying them on just about anything, makes everything look awesome. Even more, hanging them on sticks, giving it an extra dose of rustic appeal. So simple and so cute!

Anyone out there with this fever too??

When my mom came to visit, we added little touches of crochet as well. I think I might just have to find a way to squeeze in some lessons of this technique, in my little spare time left.
